What do you do?

PathFinder World Video manages the licensing of content from niche, ethnic and religious broadcasters to telco and cable television service operators across North America.  We license their channels for rebroadcast in North America.

Does PathFinder World Video own the content?

No.  We license the content from content producers and then sublicense it independent cable and Telco IPTV operators in North America.

Where does PathFinder World Video get its content?

Most of our content comes from major broadcasters outside of the US.  We license their channels for rebroadcast in North America. However we also license and rebroadcast niche content such as gaming, music and religious content.

What kinds of content does PathFinder have/want?

Our primary focus is on “ethnic content.”  That is, content generated outside the US that would be of interest to both English and Non-English speaking people living in North America. Depending on the demographics of a certain area, we want content that matches the viewership’s ethnic background and interests.

How many channels is PathFinder World Video going to distribute?

Our focus is not on the number of channels, but rather on having the right content for varied markets the rebroadcasters will be serving.  Each market has a differing demographic mix, so we need a wide variety of content to meet all their needs.

Who does PathFinder distribute the content to?

Our primary customers are independent cable operators and telco IPTV operators.  This is the fastest growing market for the distribution of video content in the North America. 

Does PathFinder do the video transport/distribution?

We work in close alliance with our video and data transport partners, Pittsburgh International Telecommunications in the United States and Stellar Communications GmbH in Germany to help you transport your video content from nearly anywhere in the world to service providers across North America.

Does PathFinder help the Cable and IPTV Operators set up their headend?

Yes.  Through our OEMs we offer a complete line of downlink and receive equipment as well as video streaming products including encoders, transcoders, multiplexers and servers.

Is Closed Captioning required?

Yes, closed captioning is required in the United States.  There are many services we work with that can assist you insert closed captioning if you need assistance. 

Are Electronic Program Guides required?

While they are not a legal requirement, viewers and broadcasters do expect to provide program guides.  We therefore highly recommend that you provide text files listing what the content is to Tribune and Decision Mark.   They will them provide EPG data to the broadcasters.

Are viewer ratings required?

Yes.  To comply with US law, it is important that all content have a viewer rating consistent with US requirements.

Does PathFinder World Video license individual programs?

Our primary market is the licensing of complete channel broadcasts, not individual programs.

Does PathFinder World Video provide Video on Demand Services?

Our primary market is the licensing of complete channel broadcasts, not individual programs.

How do I know PathFinder will market my content and not other people’s content?

We look at the demographics within each rebroadcaster’s network and identify the content that best matches their customer base.  So we offer your content in areas where it is most likely to be viewed.

How much do PathFinder's customers pay for the content, and how much does PathFinder pay the content producers for their content?

The fee paid for the content is very much a function of the content.  The higher quality the content, and the greater the demand for the content, the higher the fee paid.  We need to determine this on a case by case basis.

How and when do the Content Owners get paid?

All of our rebroadcasters are required to provide detailed information on how many customers they have in their distribution network each quarter.  They then have thirty days to make their royalty payments and we forward your earnings on to you

We are not a law firm and therefore cannot provide legal advice, but we can refer you to information that may help answer your questions.

Do you offer rebroadcasters financing?

Yes.  Through our partnership with U.S. Media Capital, we offer our clients competitive leasing and financing for a full range of technology assets and services including hardware, software, and implementation services.
