PathFinder Digital's nControl is a very intuitive, easy to use, graphical user interface (GUI) for use with AvL Technologies Antenna Systems that are outfitted with the TracStar Antenna Control System.

nControl is a PC application that can run on any PC and simply plugs in to the serial port of the TracStar antenna controller indoor unit.

 

Shown below are sample pages within nControl particular to PathFinder Digital's BAT-750 Federal / Military case based antenna system outfitted wtih an AvL baseline antenna system with TracStar controller:


Main ‘Auto” screen.

System properly connected.  Idle state, READY to deploy.

Click the “Deploy” button and the system will deploy to the pre-determined target data satellite.

Note “LOCK” indication in IDD display, “Locked” Green LED in the middle, and a high SNR reading.

nControl in the “Manual” mode.

From this screen the user can manually jog the elevation, azimuth, and polarity of the system, enter compass values, GPS coordinates, and polarity settings.  In addition, the user can manually enter an azimuth and elevation value and command the system to “GOTO” those headings.

To access the Advanced pages, click on the “Advanced” button and the access code window will pop up.  Enter the proper code and access will be given.

The “Satellites” advanced page.

From this page, the user can set target data satellite A and B from a drop down list of satellites and select the proper reference satellites for each data satellite.  In addition, the user can perform a “SkyScan” procedure from this page; and if applicable, the user can enter a pre-determined configuration file that is supplied from the network operator.

The “Settings” advanced page.

From this page, the user can set a number of parameters that is typically required for a RESET condition.  The user can set the region of operation, LNB LO Frequency, high and low end of the LNB frequency range, and the LNB gain.  In addition, the user can select system scan type such as frequency ReUSE or ReSCAN.  ReSCAN is the default and is recommended.

Ready to Stow.

When the “Stow” button is clicked, the Warning widow will pop up asking if it is safe to stow.  If so, click “Yes” and the antenna will move to the Stow position.

At any time the “Status” button can be clicked that will show the antenna type, firmware serial number, firmware version, antenna type, reflector type, and contact information.  Also, a Settings Report and Log is available via this screen for troubleshooting purposes.
